Sale of all Asquam Labrador puppies are formalized via individual sales contract and bill of sale to said, buyer.

PURCHASE AGREEMENT AND WARRANTY

Limited Registration-

Upon Purchase of puppy, buyer understands that this puppy is sold on limited registration so that it is not allowed to be bred or used as stud. 

The buyer is purchasing this puppy on an American Kennel Club (AKC) Limited Registration. According to AKC, under Limited Registration, “no offspring of a dog for which Limited Registration has been granted is eligible for registration.” The purchased dog is, however, eligible to compete in AKC events such as Hunting, Field Trials, Obedience, Tracking and Agility, with the exception of breed conformation shows. Buyer agrees not to register said dog under any other registry without breeder consent

Upon purchase of puppy, buyer agrees not to spay or neuter said puppy prior to 18 months of age, violation of said terms will void this warranty.

Asquam Labradors pre-pay the cost of the AKC Registration and AKC Reunite (microchip registration).

In order for an effective warranty, the purchased dog must be registered with AKC and the microchip registered with AKC Reunite. This is to ensure that the identity of your dog is irrefutable and the recovery of your dog, if it is lost or stolen. Registering your puppy and the microchip with AKC are an important part of responsible dog ownership.

 If after 30 days both registrations are not completed, Asquam Labradors will register the dog and microchip.

HEALTH AND MAINTENANCE

All Asquam breeding dogs are screened for the following: OFA Hips, OFA Elbows, OFA Hearts, OFA Eyes (yearly), Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC) and Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA).   Copies of health clearances from sire and dam are included in the puppy information package or via email.

 All puppies will have received their first vaccine, are de-wormed at 2 weeks old 4 weeks old, & 6 weeks old, microchipped, and have received a general health evaluation by  a veterinarian prior to being released to the purchaser.

The owner agrees to provide this dog with annual Veterinary check-ups, including heart worm, Lime and other Tick born illnesses and administer immunizations according to conservative interpretations of current AVMA or AAHA guidelines. The buyer also agrees to care for the dog with routine flea and tick prevention measures for the health guarantee to be in effect.

 The purchaser should have a discussion with their veterinarian about the following two vaccines: the Lepto vaccination is recommended for dogs at risk of exposure to Leptospirosis. Lyme Vaccine is also recommended for dogs at risk of exposure to Ticks. The level of risk for these two diseases may depend on geographic location.

 The owner agrees to the dog will live indoors and never be permitted to roam free.

 This dog is sold to be kept as a companion animal.

Asquam Labradors expects the purchaser to remember that environmental factors may contribute to health issues.

The purchaser needs to understand that until a Labrador has completed its growing, only moderate exercise is recommended. Over-exercising is Not recommended and can hurt your dog. Moderate exercise for your puppy which strengthens the gluteal muscles, such as short five to ten minute walks, play and swimming, are a good ideas. Activities that apply excessive force to the hip or leg joints such as jogging with his owner, playing Frisbee or jumping to catch a ball are not recommended.

Initial Health Exam-

In order for the health warranty to be valid, the purchaser agrees to have the puppy examined by a veterinarian within 7 working days of the transfer.   If at that time the puppy is diagnosed with an existing medical problem, the puppy may be returned to the breeder for  a full refund. If the purchaser wishes to retain possession of the sick puppy, the Breeder agrees to pay the Trupanion pet insurance deductible.   The Purchaser must provide the Breeder with a letter from the attending veterinarian specifying the nature of the problem and copies of the medical record and expenses. If requested by the Breeder, the Purchaser must provide the Breeder with an evaluation form a second veterinarian of the Breeder’s choice at the Breeder’s expense before any payment.

 All Asquam puppies go home with one month of free Trupanion pet health insurance.

Since accidents do happen and with the rising veterinary health costs, it is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED the new pet owners pay for and maintain the Trupanion Health Insurance policy for one year. If any genetic issues are found during this time, Asquam Labradors agree to pay the deductible. If the pet owner declines the Trupanion Pet Insurance after the first month, they will be responsible for all veterinary expenses for any genetic issues thereafter.

 Duty to Inform

If at any time you are unable to keep this dog, the breeder must be informed first before selling it or giving it to anyone else, as the breeder has first right of refusal.

Breeders Guarantee -

Asquam Labradors has taken great measures through genetic testing, regular medical care, good food and an enriched environment to create healthy Labradors.

 The buyer understands that these that these procedures offer the best possible foundation for puppy’s physical health, but they cannot constitute an absolute guarantee. If a purchased puppy develops a serious inherited disorder that will prevent the dog from living a fulfilling pet life, within the first 24 months of age, the Breeder will provide the purchaser with a partial refund (50% of the purchase price).

Examples of serious inherited disorders include documentable severe to non-functional hip dysplasia, OFA grade II to III elbow dysplasia, inherited epilepsy, clinical significant juvenile cataracts and moderate to severe TVD.

The purchaser must provide the Breeder with copies of the medical records and expenses, including OFA documentation, and a letter from the attending veterinarian within 30 days of discovery. If requested, the purchaser must also provide an evaluation by a second veterinarian selected by the Breeder at the purchaser’s expense. The purchaser may retain possession of the dog or return the dog to the Breeder.

Owner assumes all responsibility for this dog upon leaving the Breeder’s premises.  All guarantees are void in the presence of neglect or abuse.

 Registered Kennel Name-

The puppy needs to be registered with the AKC using the prefix, ASQUAM in his/her registered name.

 Buyers here by agree that failure to honor all conditions of this contract can result in the Breeder reclaiming the dog and registration.

 If for any reason, during this dog’s life, the Purchaser cannot care for the dog, we would require that they contact us at asquamlabs@gmail.com or call 401-439-0625 to return the dog.

 By my signature, as the Purchaser, I acknowledge reading the Puppy Warranty and understand the requirements for me to maintain this Puppy Warranty.
